Everybody should have one. I guess this qualifies as flatwork. Ryan's post of the slip-bark whistle got me to thinking of the things I used to carve with my scout knife. This one lends itself to small branches and is an easy way to mess with your kids/grand kids heads. After they learn the secret you can help them make their own. I can't find the one I made 60 years ago, but it's still kicking around the house somewhere. Google for more.

Very cool Ted

What about one of these, you ever make one. Another great fun entertaining project. Dont know if wooden cotton reels are still available guess they may be plastic now. Sorry did not mean to hi jack. :(

Rob, we used to call those 'tanks' when we were kids in England. I never saw any after I came to Canada, but I do remember them. When I worked at the local museum, we sold the climbing bear, but I never saw a Gee Haw Whimmy Diddle before. :D
