A Pair of Spalted Maple Side Tables

There wasn't a whole lot of woodworking involved in these...chainsaw some slabs from a log, lots of sanding, drilling 3 holes slanted 15 degrees and applying some oil. The legs are 1/2" rebar. Total height is 20" and the maple slabs are about 13" in diameter. I just noticed I only have pictures of one of them......you'll have to trust me that there are 2 of them. :D

They were supposed to be 3 of them and used out on the patio, but the boss now wants just the 2 in the living room as side tables. Which means I now have another project...make a patio table out of cedar to match our new privacy fence.

To which, I reply, "Ah yes."

Enjoy (and don't drop a table on your toe),

Oh, the humanity! Think of all the bowls and hollow forms that were lost in the making those tables!

Nice job, JB. :thumb:

Thanks guys...not sure how they haven't cracked, just dumb luck I guess. It was standing dead for many years and cut down last summer to 3 ft logs. No sealer on the ends either just stuck it in the back yard.

Oh and don't worry about bowls...I got almost the whole tree!! 😀
