Twenty Questions.

Man those are impressive machines! You're moving some serious material there.

Something that size is so very far outside of what I do, but still pretty fun to watch :D

Sounds like business is doing pretty well anyway, nice to hear that!

Old sander is gone. Gotta love Craigslist. Or at least as long as things go well, and you don't wake up in bathtub full of ice in a shady hotel room with no kidneys. Up until then its my method of selling stuff.

I paid $5500 for the old one in 08', sold it for $4000 six years later. Didn't owe me a thing that's for sure.

bye bye sander!

July 9th is when Apex is saying the new one should be ready for delivery. Fortunately I've got zero work right now and don't need a widebelt that badly at the moment.
This space is looking a might lonely until then.

I need to get the electrician in here. I don't know where he's going to find the sparks to run it though. This sucker draws 132 amps at full draw. Not that its ever going to see that, but wowza that's a ton of juice, and the box is basically full(ish). I do have a 100amp sub panel he can move some stuff from the main panel over to. Hopefully that works anyways. I sense there's going to be some electrician jiu jitsu going on.

New one should look like this. I'm looking forward to the next big job.

Eek. Waiting to hear back from the engineers, but I might have to pull another service from the street to the tune of $15k. not real excited about that.

Picking her up on Monday. Stupid thing has been in the country for over two weeks.

Also the wiring is going to be pretty reasonable. Pulling a parallel feed from the street and a new meter, it's going to be less than $5k for sure, and probably closer to $3k to get it wired. I'm happy about that.

Welp, waiting for Excel Energy to get out here and hook power up at the pole. Everything inside the building is ready to go on the wiring end. Hopefully they get out here soon. A cabinet shop without a widebelt sander is basically castrated. I guess the upside to not having much going on is that the sander wouldn't be in high demand even if it were hooked up.

I've got two 1900cfm, two bag, Powermatic dust collectors. It has worked well having two separate units, being that my shop is semi divided in two parts anyways, because it was originally two separate spaces that a hole was knocked in the wall to make it two. The new sander needs 2700cfm to work correctly, so I'm going to pull from each of the dust collectors to each individual head. Parts are on the way for that. Should be ready before the end of the week.

Its a beast. Huge even, especially compared to my old sander.

Here she is at the place I bought it from.

Right side if you are on the feed side of things. Big motors. I should not have HP issues any longer that's for sure.

Finally in the door, and off its skid. Even with a forklift it was a challenge getting it off of the skid. My electrician buddy pretending to be doing some math.

Set in place and leveled out. I made some pucks out of stacked up 1/2" Baltic Birch for the pads to rest on so I could get a pallet jack under it easily if it needs to be pulled out for maintenance, or for when I eventually move.

The old Speedsander in the same place for a reference.

It's definitely time to get the process rolling on a new building. This thing is just going to make things even more cramped. There's only about five feet between it and the Striebig. Hopefully next year, or possibly the year after I can get into a new building of my own. I'm looking at building a minimum of 5k sq/ft, and might go as big as 10k sq/ft and build in some rental space to help cover the expense.
