I can only imagine how many modifications would have to be made to that lighthouse for it to meet regulations for personnel safety over here. :eek:
 
That's quite a procedure. None of them seem too stressed about it and I'm sure the one guy with his floatation coat unzipped would get it done up as soon as he hit the water :)
Gravity takes care of the guy coming down, but I couldn't figure out how they had it rigged to use the boat to haul the guy up onto the light.
I see they've since automated that light. I wonder how they get on it for maintenance without someone to receive a line.
 
That is a very competent captain to handle a boat in seas that rough & from every direction!. Seems like a helicopter would be more appropriate.
