with the jardiniere being project 7 of 9 for the fair, i guess this one is number 8. it is a side table of a different design. it will stand 2 ft high, the top will be 24" in diameter, and the bottom shelf is 12" in diameter. i managed to set aside enough of the small offcuts from the chairs for the smaller legs, and the lower shelf. all i need get now is the red oak for the top and large legs.

slight change in plans, going with white oak, and finishing the same as the clock and jardiniere. couldn't find enough shorts in red oak, and went with everything in white oak. couldn't beat the price.

spent a couple of hours today planing all of the boards to thickness. tomorrow is the day for laying out of parts.

now that the jardiniere is done, and the boards planed to thickness, it was time to start laying out the parts. started in with the small shelf. cut to size and glued up. more work on the big legs and the top tomorrow.

a bit more done today. got the top blank glued up, and the leg blanks ready. the odd part on the legs are for the shelf support (you'll see once i cut the legs to shape).

even more done today. laid out the leg pattern on the blanks, laid out the circle for the small shelf. rough cut the leg blanks and small shelf, then sanded to lines. then it got even more fun, rigged up the router to the circle cutting jig and cut the circle for the top. then got a pic of pop spraying miracle gro on his lilacs. then the real fun happened, did the first test set up of the table and said wow....

i know, i should have been sleeping, but i snuck over to pop's house anyway. i gave it a light rub with 600 grit, and applied the first coat of seal coat. tomorrow it will be the gel stain.

finished this one off today. gave all of the parts a light rub down with 150 grit, then started the final build. once it was put together, it was on to the shellac. now it resides in our garage, waiting for the fair.
