Are glass shakers in them, or are they threaded for the lids?

Roger, out of curiosity, why are you concerned about the salt or pepper being in contact with the exposed wood? Wooden salt boxes have been a staple item in kitchens for centuries. And most pepper (or salt) grinders are raw wood on the inside.
