It's a lidded box.

The lid comes off.

Like I said, I did a little turning.

OD is 1-3/8".

MIL will be pleased with her new pill box.

This was the last thing I made on my Jet lathe before retiring it.

Edit 1: Finish is a coat of tung oil, then some rattle can lacquer a few days later.

Edit 2: Oh...as if you couldn't guess...it's maple over walnut.

:)

That's neat Bill! :thumb: My dad has made a few pill boxes and given them to friends at church and the Y. I can't get myself to be able to make something that small...but I should give it a try.

Just think. Of all the millions of people on this rock, how many have made a pill box, and how many have made a pill box like yours? Pretty cool isn't it:)

Why did you retire the lathe Bill

The Jet lathe has a Reeves drive for changing speed, which means it has to be running to change speed. I've looked at options for modifying the Jet 1236 to variable speed but the cost wasn't much less than buying this new machine.

Neat. She will like. Retiring your lathe? Giving up turning or going to a different model?

My MIL just loves anything we give her that I've made. Several years ago, I made this coffee table, then a few months later we delivered matching end tables.

There's more of an explanation about my lathes in another thread.
