I am a flute maker and am looking for some spalted , highly figured wood or just exceptional very pretty wood. Ill need to be able to get some pieces 1 1/2" square by 32" long and 2" square by 36" long. If you have or know I can maybe get some like this that would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. (I have a very nice flute for a customer I will post pics of next week when it is finished)

Will buy or a trade will work too!

Any particular species? Some commonly found woods around here in VA are maple, hackberry, holly, magnolia, oak, tulip poplar, sweetgum, cherry, bradford pear, dogwood....many of these spalt nicely. I have purchased some very nice figured maple from Curly Maple-- http://www.curlymaple.com/ Also, if you can find a sawyer in your area (a mill or woodmizer owner) they may be able to custom cut for you. Tree services are also a good source for wood. Good luck.

Ted no particular species. I recently got a couple of pieces of highly spalted maple and one turned into a really nice looking flute. Ill check out your link..Thanks
