Another notch in the belt. I'll be curious to see how this one holds up during the drying process. The variation in thickness of the winged parts may cause cracking issues, but since the piece is relatively small, it may not. And if it cracks, so what? Fill and finish. It's not like you'll be using the bowl for soup.
If you don't mind, I'd like to toss out a question since I'm doing more turning and want to 'branch' out myself: With a piece like this, can one mitigate the potential cracking by soaking it in BLO or other oil product? I've heard of people soaking some types of wood in polyurethane after initial turning.
