I started on building a DP table yesterday. I ended up laminating three pieces of 1/2" baltic birch. I'll be banding the side and front edges with some maple, the fence is cut out of some 8/4 cherry scrap.
The rear has a radius around the post, the cut out on the right is to allow for the elevation handle's swing.
I still need to add the banding and cut out a recess/sacrificial plate. I cut out a 3" recess in the fence to allow extra clearance.
Another view around the post and the recess for the chuck.
One small issue though, will have to cut down the height of the fence or have an auxiliary shorter one to use in it's place, which should be easy enough to swap out. The chuck is about 2" from the table at this point, so removing some height on the fence should work fine.
