Tom, my thoughts and prayers are on the way!
In 2001 I broke my back, compression fracture of L-2, I'm now 8mm shorter than I was before my accident and still active. The ski instructor we used when we skied was paragliding when his parachute failed. He fell 40 feet before landing, luckily he was paragliding with an ER physician and the chase car was driven by the ER doctor's wife, a nurse . He had 2 steel rods in his back for a year or so. A couple years later he retired from the USFS and moved to Kalispell, MT where he's flyfishing in season and ski instructing in season. Do what the doctors say. There is hope. Hang tough!
