Dad and I were talking about these the other day. I was on my way in for something to eat and I heard a small voice coming from the scrap bin . . . . It called out "me! take me!".

Now I'm used to hearing that from beautiful women but, from the scrap bin!?! Meanwhile back at reality . . .

I did a quick drawing in Sketch Up and can get a pair of these out of a piece of scrap about 7" x 16". My trusty little bandsaw came in handy once again. The 1/4" x 6TPI blade cut through the stacked parts without issue.

A trip to the router table to knock the sharp edges off where your hand goes:

I also plowed a 45* groove about a 1/3" of the width of the sole:

You can use it vertically or at an angle with the edge of your stock setting nicely in the 45* groove.

If you don't want the tail stop, just remove one screw and flip it out of the way. I'll even take dad one of the spare stops I made.

I made the long part about 3" tall thinking that as it got chewed up I could just rip off the bottom, re-groove and go back at it. Now . . . where was I . . . . Oh yeah! I wanted something to eat . . .

:bbq:
