The open twists are done by hand with a carbide grit round file, then perfected with finer grit paper wrapped around a drill bit of the correct size.
The Pink Ivory Inlay in the Holly portion of the top is a fairly complicated procedure. It requires several generations of altered glue-ups and cutting and sanding before it can be put on the lathe.
When I find some spare time I will put together some sort of document on the procedure.
The second from the left is a spinning top sitting on its display stand.
The third from the left is a Christmas tree Ornament made from Bloodwood
and Holly.
This new ornament below is called a Platonic solid with 96 vertices turned into a perfect ball. It is made of Makore and Walnut with rhinestones at each
vertices.
Thanks for the comments. I will try and post some step by step instructions for a project, I will wait an see if there is a concensis on which one to post.
Jerry, I'd love to see the Christmas ornament, or "A" Christmas ornament, but I'm sure that any one of them that you wish to show us, will be an education.
