Oak king is 6 layers of leafs in this carving will be stating it Monday, going to use color pencils to mark out each layer of the leafs an this carving will have no corners once completed this carving is out of 8/4 Bass

Have you ever thought about pre-staining 1/4 bass and gluing 8 layers deep, each layer a different color,

then working down to a particular color? I've never carved into stained wood, but at 1/4 it might stain all through?

Most times that thin it will cup bad so no I find it easier to keep it solid an just take my time with it, most of the time is doing the back cuts
