Ash & Walnut Vase.

Very "worthy of collecting dust" Chas!:) Nice presentation of working methods also. Thanks for sharing. Now I'm really convinced I haven't the patients for this style of turning.:thumb::thumb:

Thanks for the interest and comments all, problem now is trying to get the old brain in gear to come up with something on a par in interest and making challenge.

Amazing, just amazing! How long does a project like that take from start to finish?
Not got a true feel for the initial stave blank as I had to sort jigs etc. (not done it that way before) think about 4 hrs.
Looking at the EXIF data for the images I would say about 10 hours for the assembly and turning including the tailstock support.

09:01 12:00 16.40 to first on lathe glue up including tailstock support.
10-01 15:09 15:14 first shape and glue top
11-01 12:55 15:34 to shoulder glue up including neck basic shaping
12-01 15:07 16:28 final glue up

22-01 12:10 13:08 hollow out neck and finish turn main body
22-01 13:14 13:20 part off base
22-01 14:33 15:04 reverse and finish base
22-01 15:10 15:20 Piece buffed

22-01 15:54 lathe put to bed and final images taken of finished item.
