This is based on a chalkboard designed by Ko Verzuu and made in The Netherlands in the 1920's. The original is available for only $1250. Perhaps this would be an inspiration for someone looking for a project to build for a grandchild. Since chalkboards seem to be out of fashion, maybe the chalkboard could be replaced by a whiteboard.

Rough dimensions:

The chalkboard is 22-1/4 in. dia.
The tray is 4 in. wide and 21-1/4 in. long.
The sides of the tray are 2 in. high.
The uprights supporting the chalkboard are 1 in. thick by 1-1/4 in. wide by 14-1/8 in. long.
The lower easel supports are 1/2 in. thick by 1-1/4 in. wide by 9-5/8 in. long.
And the other easel supports are 1/2 in. thick by 1 in. wide by 13-3/4 in. long.

Sorry. At the moment I haven't got time to make a detailed plan for it.

I'm sure we'd use ply and chakboard paint nowadays, but any idea what they used for the chakboard back them? Some kind of slate? That's pretty cool looking.
