Spalted Maple hall table

Do to the snow/ice storm I've had a little free time, so I started making a hall table for a friend. It's hard spalted maple. I've got the legs, apron, and top rough cut. Here's a few pictures.

got'er done. Here's a picture of the top with the first coat of finish on. Three or four more and she'll be out the door!

Here's the back story on this table. A few years ago I was given the opportunity to get a couple of logs from a sugar maple. The tree was in front of Colonial Hall which is the oldest house in the town where I live. Here's a link with a little story. http://www.roanecountyinfo.org/history/colonial_hall.htm Best I could figure from the growth rings the tree sprouted around 1860. When I get it finished I plan on giving it to the owners for letting me have the logs.

This is a picture of the top. It's 14" wide x 45" long x 29" tall

That's going to be a spectacular piece, John! Looks great already.

In your original photo of the top, it looks like an owl face peeking out of it!
