I was watching some videos on one of my shotguns. The gunsmith started out by making his own set of screw drivers for dis-assembly of the shotgun. So the first 10 minutes or so is showing how he makes his screw drivers

It's not on youtube, so either go the the videos page, and then click on the "Browning A5 Disassembly"

http://artsgunshop.com/

or can hit the video file directly below.

We used to make screw drivers as a shop project in HS, haven't really done them since, usually just regrind an old one I have laying around, but he covered how to do hardening in the video, which I thought was worth watching.

Screwdrivers are cool and all, but what I wanna know is how you watch videos on your shotgun. Does it have an LCD screen or something? :D

Excellent video. Guy has a great voice and way of explaining. Always get a real kick out of listening to a pro talking about a subject.
I would like to try his hardening method on an old chisel or two and see how it affects the edge that i feel was abused in grinding before it came to be in my hands.
Will look on web for colors for different steels and tools but if anyone happens to know of a link please post it.
Darren that guy sure knows his guns. Wow.

just regrind an old one

Have done that many times. I buy old screwdrivers from flea markets, or wherever. Grind to shape and size I want, heat with propane torch and dunk in water to harden. I don't bother to temper and have never had a problem with breakage.

I'd love to get more into smithing, but it's tantamount to being able to work on every car ever made. Those guys are real artists.
