It doesn't matter how good of a dust collection system you have if you don't use it.

I was wondering why my table saw seemed to not be sucking up any dust from some saw cuts.

I opened up the door on my table saw and it was completely stuff with sawdust. I filled up a 30 gallon trash can with all the dust that was in there.

So now we'll see how it works. I'm guessing it will work a lot better.

Pretty sure in my case the cause was a long term failure to turn the Dust Collector on.

"Oh, It's just a quick cut or two, why bother."

I think I've learned my lesson.

Beware of auto turn on devices. The starting load of the dust collector and the starting load of the saw are not good in most wiring at the same time. A 5-10 second delay is a big help.

I was guilty of this on my large bandsaw. It didn't seem lie I did it that often . . . .:whistling: I did it enough to cost me a set of lower guide bearings :pullhair:. I think we hesitate to put the DC through a startup cycle for a 5 second cut. I still skip the DC for one quick cut but, I turn it on for the second one; lesson learned.
