This is another piece that came out of the kiln today for finishing. This wood turned a bit differently than normal. There were a couple of spots here and there that had some burring in it that normally I do not find in pecan. I managed to get them sanded out. There are some spots that I noticed after I finished it that looked like they were rough but to the touch they are just fine and smooth, so I guess there is some optical illusions going on there. As long as it feels nice and smooth all over I am going to go with it. As per my usual finishing, I sealed it with walnut oil and while spinning it got a few coats of the walnut oil/shellac mixture rubbed in. It has a diameter of 15 1/2" with a height of 2 3/4" and a depth of 2 1/4". The foot ended up not as broad as I prefer but it should work okay. Thanks for looking.
