Gone for awhile

Been in the hospital since last Saturday night.
Short version is I beat the lung cancer diagnosis of last February (2 hospitals on 4 specialists misdiagnosed. Long and very stressful story) but since then I've been gaining weight despite being on a strict diet. Swollen legs, stomach, arms, and other less obvious places
Weight went nuts and I've gained over 70 pounds of water weight since April. Blood tests galore. Echo cardiograms, cat scans, ultra sounds of belly and legs (5 times) pet scan.............. No problems found. I was working with my Doctors here in NH as well as a vascular/cardiac specialist in Boston.
Things peaked Last Friday and my doc ordered another kidney test. I got a call from him Saturday evening and he said to get to the hospital now. To make this story shorter, they found out I was in and had been for several months acute kidney failure. This is causing the weight gain. Had a kidney biopsy but won't get full results for several weeks. Preliminary feelings is that a blood pressure medicine (lisinospril) and a otc pill I've been using for quite some time (naproxin which is Aleve) used together was the cause.
Good news. Since the week in the Hospital I've lost 12 pounds. Chemical mixes in my IV, Changing meds, changing lifestyle ( no salt, no pain stuff unless prescribed) seem to be the solution. The levels of the good stuff in my kidneys is getting better and the bad stuff is slowly going down. The doc says it's a 3-5 month ordeal but it's curable. A lot is up to me :)
Anyway, things seem promising and we are crossing our fingers and saying our prayers to the great architect.
I'm committed to getting back into the shop and getting the swap done in time.
I've been in a very uncharacteristically foul mood for awhile so If I've insulted any of my very, very, good friends here I apologize. This is a great group and I've made a lifetime of friends with great people.
I'm still taking thoughts and prayers if you got them. ;)
Thanks for being my friends.

All my thoughts and hopes are with you Bob. You are one of our treasures around here and if you've been in a foul mood, I'm too thick skinned to have noticed . A shift in lifestyle is tough on anyone no matter what the benefit. Hang tough, follow orders and get back to your old young-at-heart self soon.
