As a kid growing up some of my earliest recollections was hearing about the great Yogi Berra. He passed away at age 90. Here are some of his famous quotes. Enjoy.

1. "It ain't over till it's over"
2."It's déjà vu all over again."
3. "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."
4. "If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else."
5. "Never answer an anonymous letter."
6. "Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical."
7. "Always go to other people's funerals; otherwise, they won't go to yours."
8. "You can observe a lot by watching."
9. "I usually take a two-hour nap from 1 to 4."
10. "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore."
11. "The future aint what it used to be."

I loved baseball during the days when Yogi was playing.

I'll never forget one game when Yogi for a reason I cannot remember was playing left field. A high pop fly came in his direction and he ran to catch it. Somehow he misjudged and it fell right in front of him.

After the game Joe Garagiola asked Yogi what happened on that pop up.

Yogi said, "I nonchalanted it".

Joe said, "I didn't know you knew words like nonchalant."

Yogi replied, "I didn't either until just now."

It seems to me that Yogi Berra was a man who happily lived in his own world in a way that he understood. He believed in doing his best, which turned out to be very good. Happy in his own skin without thought for others' opinions of him. His game was baseball, not messing with people. Our thing may not be baseball, but we sure would benefit from giving up playing games with one another. This group on FWW doesn't engage in games as much as others which is one reason I love it here. Yoggi Berra is a genuine role model for all of us. A legacy to be admired.
