Started my swapproject today

Well - nothing that pictures will show - but the stain dried and I sealed with rattle can shellac. Today I sanded and sealed again with Deft Lacquer. Over the next day or two I will be glazing, then finishing again with lacquer. After that the assembly.

RUT ROW !!!!!

I think I may have totally screwed this up.

The coloring is all uneven.

The corner decorations are varied from dark to light.

The moon looks like it has craters - feels that way too.

The entire thing looks kinda old - not new. Boo Hoooo

Should I just throw it in the wood stove and start over?

I can bang out a quickie pine something or another.

Well - I will finish putting it together, and maybe somebody else can burn it.

I am soooo disappointed - poor Wolfie.

Tease-20.jpg

Light and dark all over

Tease-21.jpg

Again All light and dark

The wolf is crying because it is so uneven.

Well, at least it looks like the moon has craters.

Tease-25.jpg

Area around text is all uneven

Nothing even

Tease-22.jpg

Same here

Tease-23.jpg

This is the same as the other wolfie.

Lighting is different - so it looks different shade - but it is the same

Tease-24.jpg

I have done as much finishing as there can be done.

I will complete this and send it along with my apologies.

I am so sorry for this looking so badly.

I think you are being way too hard on yourself.

It's wood, and I would expect the texture and colors to vary a bit.

I don't see the 'flaws' you see at all. They all look great to me. Seriously.

Leo, there ain't nothin' bad about that! Actually, some of the color variation might be a difference in lighting. Assemble it, present it, and accept the thanks for a great project!!! :thumb:

Yeah, I actually like the way the wolf looks. Makes him pop out. Oak is pretty much impossible to get a 100% even stain on so it.. looks like oak that's been stained :D that's not bad, it's just what it is.

The only part that I'd really change would be the lettering but IMHO that's a design and not an execution problem. The recessed letters will look darker, so it might look better with them raised. As it it though they have a kind of antiqued look that's attractive in its own right so. Maybe design choice more than issue :thumb:

I'm Sorry - I was kidding, but it looks like I was truly disappointed - I am not.

Lighting is certainly playing it's part here - the wood is all a uniform color - not at all varying like it looks in the pictures.

The variation in color is intentional. That is the effects of the glazing.

Actually - the moon is supposed to show the craters.

I really should not post like that.

The entire point of the glazing is to really pop the details in the 3D figures and to add the variations.

Sorry for the confusion
