Now where did your mind go???

A couple of guys on the Inventables forum have been creating and posting plans for dinosaur skeletons. I downloaded the ones they've posted so far and spent time today to run one on my CNC. Here's the result from a piece of 1/8" tempered hardboard:

Mr. T-Rex stands 9.5" tall and is about 14" long.

The files provided are eps and svg formats. VCarve imported the eps but is a little bit small; i.e., closer to 0.100" than 0.125". Using the scaling function in VCarve, I enlarged the drawing to give me a gap in the tabs of just under 0.125" to match the material. I added tabs, which was a bit tedious but necessary. I used a 1/16" 2-flute end mill at 50ipm and DOC of 0.03"; total time was about 45min.

Oh, yeah...one other thing they provide is an assembly key:

If you want to try one, you can find T-Rex here. As you scroll down the screen, you'll see a "Download Zip" button; the zip file contains the eps and svg vectors along with the key as a png.
