Hi all,

So i made the mistake of using danish oil on cherry with no pre-stain. Came out very blotchy and i decided i wanted to go with a poly finish. I grabbed a stripper from home depot and started sanding. Issue is in some areas the oil keeps coming back up. Can i sand as much as possible and use a shellac sealer coat before the polly? I know oils and pollys don't mix. See pics attached.

the shellac should help. I'd suggest giving the remaining oil a few days to cure, then sand what you can before applying the shellac seal coat. If you apply the shellac before the oil cures, I suspect you'd just be trading oine problem for another.
