Using Brushing Lacquer, Oil glaze, flow inhanser and lacquer thinner mixing a glaze from a lacquer deep gray I used Naptha to wipe down the oak . Keeping it wet and laying on the glaze and wiping it off or using a semi dry brush with glaze and brushing it on.
Next I'll use a clear with a tint of black to deepen the tone to an old pewter. The naptha opens the wood to receive the glaze , that's why I call it a burn in finish.
