This is the LOML design idea. She came up with this pair of old raised panel doors and wanted to make a bed using them. It started out as simply attaching some legs and bolting it to the existing bed frame. We were talking about this and then one morning she calls on her way to work and said she found two doors in a yard sale and I needed to go pick them up right now!! So it grew into a full bed.
Because we sold the house and started the new one this never got off the ground till now. (trying to get some "stuff" out of the shop) And of course I wasn't happy with just putting legs on there either. Last couple of days I have worked on the corner post. I used 5/4 poplar and cut and glued up mitered posts. I should have the doors ready for glue-up today. I made a cap and rail to look at. Both of them look to heavy to me I think they need to be thinner. I need to make those today and or course I have to plug the hardware holes too.
I think it is going to be a pretty nice once it's done. Just dread all the sanding it going to take to get them ready for paint! No work today so I have lots of shop time but it's cold and rainy here. I really wanted to take them outside to sand because it is probably old lead based paint on these doors.
