SOLD
For Sale - 1/4" English style mortise chisel (pigsticker). Labled "GOLDENBERG" plus a logo. Although not marked, I believe this chisel to be a "cast steel" chisel. The reason is that I have another, larger "GOLDENBERG" English style chisel, with the same logo and the words "ACIER FONDU", which is French for 'cast steel' (the literal translation is "steel melted" but it's the French name for what the English call "cast steel").
The handle has been replaced with what looks like rosewood. The overall length is 9 3/4" and the blade is about 5 1/4". I've flattened and polished the back and sharpened the edge so it's ready to go to work.
English style mortise chisels are teriffic for chopping mortises. They cut fast and the large cross section provides the strength for levering out the waste. Tools for Working Wood is now offering new English mortise chisels at prices significantly higher than what I'm asking for this one.
Price: $20 plus shipping.
