A good friend asked if I wanted it and said YA!
It has some rust on it from sitting in his shed for years. I can clean that up. Plus an assortment of gouges
Anyone know about this company ?

Having gone through a lathe with headstock threads other than 1" x 8 tpi, I advise investing right now to get an adapter. You can get darn near any accessory in 1x8 from almost any company. If it is a different thread and you don't get an adapter you are stuck in a very narrow band of accessories.

I'm glad you have the lathe. You will have fun learning to turn and making nice turned pieces.

Enjoy,
JimB

I have the Mastercraft (Canadian Tire) version of that lathe. Retired it in '06 and replaced with a GI 25-650.

Spindle is Morse #2 with 1-8 tpi. The Reeves drive pulleys are pot metall so clean & lube immediately as AFAIK they are unobtainuim.

Not too different than the early Grizzly reeves drive ones. Mine served me well and yours will also after some clean up. Good catch. Others are right about needing adapters but that is not a big deal.

Nice pick up! :thumb: I know quite a few people that have got some good mileage out of that lathe. Pretty sure it is 1X8tpi, but not sure. I'd be more worried about getting the spur drive and live center out of the tapers.

It will make a nice cusin to my other lathe that I've been working to death turning turkey pot calls. I'll probably set this one up for turning the call blanks and use the other to finish them.
Thanks for all the advice everyone. Happy 4th.
