One of my Christmas presents was an application form to join the Golden Horseshoe Woodturners Guild, and the price of admission. They meet twice a month, on the second and third Thursdays, and seem to be a good bunch of (mostly) guys. The club is much larger than I expected as about 50 people were at each of the two meetings I attended so far. Last Thursday was a demonstration of off-axis woodturning, which was very interesting. I'm looking forward to being part of this bunch of friendly people. It's 60km from my home, but that's a small price to pay.
The name "Golden Horseshoe" comes from the term used to describe the portion of Ontario that wraps around the end of Lake Ontario, from Toronto to Niagara.
