Clock repair

This is an old Swiss clock , it was in a fire. Lacquer paint cracked, gilding cracked.
Repairs begins by removing soot, then inpainting. I use gesso with added Pumice Stone #4. This sands smooth and helps with the build up.
After the inpainting is finished , I take quick dry gilding size, mix with powder dies.
The color coats are laid on in thin layers to build depth.

Way too many questions i would like to ask. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like when u done.

Is that metal/ weld on the gold bezel that looks like steel blobs? Or is that burn marks?
