Just something a tiny bit different on finishing

I think most of us don't do a lot of marine boat building or finishing, but this guy is good.

I grew up around a marine environment and still live in such. I kicked around in boat yards and worked of boats a LOT when I was younger. Love that stuff.

I love the marine fine varnish finishes you see on boats. Some of the finishes are glass smooth and stand up to weather. Some of the finishes are there for no other reason than to apply a protective coating but also to show off the wood.

Marine SPAR varnish is a bit of a different thing than polyurethane. It's a LOT thicker and is a LOT more flexible when dry. In a marine environment the finish NEEDS to be able to stretch and flex as the hot sun beats on the finish and in the cool night humid air.

I like this guy - I would encourage you to look at all the stuff he posts.

In this one video he is finishing what I see as a BEAUTIFUL storage box. I want the box to be added to my "ideas" list. (yes I really do have such a list)
