Friday

Some woodworking this weekend, maybe. Finishing up some casement trim for the living room. Also picked up some maple from Paul Downes that needs some attention. It has a lot of evidence of powder post beetles and neither of us could determine if they were still active. So, right off the truck a nice spray of boric acid, let them dry in the sun, flip, repeat. Then I think I will store them in the shed rather than with my good lumber, just to be safe. Maybe Sunday I can start trimming this all up to see how much usable lumber is actually here.

Another move, but a happy one this time. Our older son is getting into his proper apartment in Dartmouth (Halifax) after a month in temporary accommodations. He's taking some of the overflow furniture from our house too, a real bonus:thumb:
I think there's going to be at least one good Halifax restaurant meal in the schedule too!

Finally got the pool cover off yesterday, seems we either have a liner leak or a broken drain line.

I'll be scoping the lines tonight or tomorrow with a camera to see if I can locate the leak.

Other than that, probably finishing up putting trim back down in the kitchen and painting some.

Looks a little like the pool we got when we moved into our house in Huffman, Texas...only not quite so black... the pool had been sitting for a few years uncovered and with a 50 foot pine tree about 30 feet away... every pine needle that ever fell off the tree landed in the pool, along with the trash, lawn furniture, light globes, a couple lengths of pipe, a staple, a calculator and a couple of ball caps that the kids threw in... expect the creature from the black lagoon to come crawling out any minute... scooped as much out as I could see, mostly the furniture and pipe and pine needles... then pumped with a borrowed filter pump to get some of the water out and scooped out more debris... added some water and 40 lbs of shock... looked like a big ol' cauldron that had been buried in the ground... crazy boiling to clear the water... then muratic acid down the sides to clean the walls where the water had stained the fiberglass... the pool was fun for a few days, then spent most of my time maintaining it... I'm with Rennie on the maintenance now... like a boat, just a hole in the ground full of water to throw money into.

The weekend.. doctor's appointment today to get a prescription refilled... he won't refill until I come in for a check up...
Tomorrow my weekly set up at the farmer's market in downtown Knoxville... Sunday Dianne wants to go shopping and since she can't drive anymore, I'll be the chauffeur.

Yeah, My wife's given me the weekend to solve the issue, then calling a pro. She's getting estimates to decide to fix or fill the hole in.

We thought about filling in but the only access was through a 42" gate, across a patio and under a pergola. In other words, every bit of fill had to come in via wheelbarrow. We looked into it the last time we had to replace the liner as they only last about 10 years. Liner replacement was $3,500, filling in was close to $10,000. If you have easy access for heavy equipment that would lower the cost significantly.

Today's my last weekday off work before starting a new job, so I'm tying up a few loose ends. Need to hit a couple of medical appointments, and pick up a refill of the dog's prescription. I also have some cinder block edging to put in around one of the planter beds in the front yard. I used some of the same stuff earlier this week on the planter in our courtyard, and we liked the look and decided to do it some more.

Also planning to get in some practice today running through songs in preparation for a gig Saturday night. It's been a couple of weeks since we played anywhere, so I need to refresh my memory a bit. This will be our first show at the Route 66 Casino just west of town. I've played there before with another band...kind of a pain due to the stage orientation and some of their in-house requirements, but the pay is good. I also need to come up with the set list for the show and program my gear to match it.

Sunday will be the test run for my new lawnmower. The previous owners of our house left behind an old and weathered Honda that has worked for the past couple of summers, but this year it's been getting more and more feeble (just like me, lol). It still starts on the first pull, but the engine is burning a lot of oil and the drive system is starting to give out. Since I don't have the interest or inclination to rebuild it, I replaced it with another Honda. Also on Sunday looks like it'll be steaks on the grill with my BIL. My sister is out of town this weekend so we didn't want him to feel too neglected.

A couple of hours in my shop this morning milling some Michigan chocolate, then Bobbie and I went out for Mexican food for lunch. Will be back in my shop this afternoon doing final milling on some walnut for a toaster oven stand - also some sanding and applying finish on my daughter's diploma frame.

Saturday, I hope to finish assembling the router frame for my walnut slab along with final assembly of the toaster oven stand.

Sunday, I'll prepare brunch as usual, then chill out for the Dover race.

Started out to run a couple of errands, eat a nice lunch, pick up some fresh veggies and so on. Then as they say the bottom dropped out of that thar sky! Heavy rains, and heavy rains. Wipers going on high, defroster going, still had to pull off the side of the road. Just flat could not see anything. We weren't the Lone Rangers on that as several ended up doing it too. Back home and unloaded. Guess gonna goof off the rest of the day. No need starting anything with this going on still.

Yard and garden work. Still playing catch up from our road trip. Squash and zucchini are ready to pick and tomatoes and cukes are right behind. Love fresh produce right from the garden.

Moving on with my machine upgrade. I am putting some poly on the drawers at this time. I should have it all installed and usable before Monday. The last thing is to make the drawer fronts. That needs to be some CNC 3D and maybe some glazing.

Pool maintenance is certainly a large investment in time. Our secound liner tore a couple of years ago, but we hadn't been using the pool for quite a few years. After we got air conditioning installed, the pool usage dropped way off. For quite few years I was the only one using it, so I finally stopped the maintenance. Fortunately the tadpoles kept the mosquito larvae in check, and the ducks brought in duck weed.

What I had been thinking of is installing a pond liner and extending it around the concrete apron. By having a lip all around It would be possible to install a bog garden. Anyhow, gotta dream of other things i guess.
