coping trim

When I stared out one of the first things I was taught was how to use a coping saw for odd shaped trim and crown molding. A few years ago when I was at home I found that cutting it with the saw and then fine tuning it with my 36 x 1 belt sander worked pretty good. Yesterday an old friend tells me that the guy he is working with now, use a grinder to make the cope. He thought they where just stupid until he tried it and now has been converted. Any of you guys use a grinder to do your coping cuts?

I've not tried that yet, same as you learned to do it with the coping saw, I will have to give that a try. I assume that he's using a grinding wheel and not a rasp type of bit?
