Ashtray from Cutting Board Cutoffs

My son-in-law often gets together with his pals for a "Herf." I learned this is when males bond while smoking their favorite cigars. I made this ashtray for him out of multiple cutting board cutoffs. I finally used some of those odd small pieces of hardwood I refused to throw away. The center is a metal cover plate for an electrical box. I thought the cover would be good for snuffing out burning cigars.

I see that it (the cover) says its "SUITABLE FOR WET LOCATIONS". Hopefully nobody mistakes the ashtray for a spitoon!

There is no such thing as scrap wood.

Good use of those small bits!

Every little piece has a purpose. We just have to find that purpose. Pete you did an excellent job of finding there purpose. I have trouble disposing of those !ittle pieces.
