been an interesting few weeks around here. a few weeks back, noticed something odd in the vision of my right eye (also got a reminded for the annual eye doc visit the same day, serendipity or set up?). went to the eye doc, and they found a very small blurry area in the retina, near the optic nerve. off to the specialist we went. after a more intensive exam, at first he thought it may have been the beginning of a cataract, then, after a much closer look, said that i had had a very small stroke in my right eye (teeny tiny blood vessels). off i went, with a recommendation of the baby aspirin regiment, and scheduled a follow up visit for a couple of weeks later. at the follow up, he was surprised to find that the blurry area in the retina was gone, and the one area involved in the field of vision test had greatly improved. he scheduled another follow up for six months from now. with the good news in hand, i decided to make a small joke with him (just me being me, ya know). at first, he said to be on the lookout for changes in vision, and/or odd headaches. so, at the end of the follow up, i told him that there was a bit of a change in my vision, he asked what it was, and in a low, confidential tone, i said, i see silly people... we both had a good laugh at that one. if that wasn't fun enough, i've picked up the same kind of cough that hit me about this time last year, really bad knot in my back from this, along with abused left ribs. luckily, i was able to get the scrip for the really good med that gets rid of it. ain't life just grand some days?
