Saving a Unisaw from the scrap yard

The thing I love about old machines is the stories they have behind them. What a great story. I hope you appreciate the story almost as much as the machine.

Quick question Jeff, in the first pictures there is no "goose egg cover" was that off the saw when you took the pics, or did you find one after the purchase?

Steve, mine never had a cover on it till I put mine on it. They were an option and most people (apparently) never saw any need to spend the money. I got lucky and was in the right place at the right time when mine came up for sale.

If the holes in the side of you saw are not threaded it has never had a cover on it.

Hi Jeff,
Congratulations on turning around a wonderful old tool. I have an old Unisaw and use it mainly for molding heads and sometimes the dado. It is very valuable to me and seeing what you did with this one encourages me to keep my eyes wide open for old iron that I might save. Thank you very much.
Shaz
