Ah fun!!! Oh no quick throw me a rope.

I've never been fond of the 5½. It's sort of a B*****d between the 5 & 6, as far as I'm concerned.

The 35, however, can be tweaked and tuned to be a terrific smoother.. Most need the mouth patched, or even a whole new sole (Lignum Vitae works great. Goncalo Alves is also good) glued on. It just depends on how much wear and tear there is on the original. I have three 35's, and they're well up among my favorites.

Nice finds! You're beginning to catch up. Another 80 or so, and...

Well...yeah...that's why they call it a 5 1/2...

I would love to have one, but don't. I would also like to have a 4 1/2. I don't have too many common planes, and have more specialty planes, but I do have a few common planes and just picked up a Type 11 3C to go along with my 4C, 5, and 8 which are all type 11. I'm not sure I'm a Type 11 freak (there's a lot of those folks around), but it's worked out that way as I've found them.
