Here is a cedar vase I made from a log the neighbor had lying around for about 3 yrs. The red cedar color is a deep purple color now. It really turned out purdy. I don't think the finish was dry before the LOML snatched it up. It is 3 1/4" across and 7 1/2" tall. Finished with Minwax Tung Oil and 4 coats of poly. Made a decorative pedestal which I thought turned out pretty good.

I like it Bernie. Great job all the way around. :thumb: I just finished rough-turning a cedar hollow form...now my shop smells like a cedar chest. ;)

Nice looking vase, Bernie. Cedar can be beautiful. For me, and many, turning cedar is a love/hate affair. It turns easily but is very brittle. One catch and their are flying chunks in the shop. I used to sell and ship larger pieces to parts of the country that don't have the eastern aromatic red. But, most of the time it cracked enroute due to climatic changes, or whatever.
