It looks like I'm going to be building the fence I was posting questions about earlier. Now I have another question. Client wants a driveway gate with an opener installed. My question is regarding the construction of the gate. How would you go about building this to make it strong enough?

For starters I would turn the gate framing lumber 90 degrees. Your pressure/load is pressing downward and the lumber is stronger across the wide part.

Second I would do mortise and tenon joints, you need the strength.

Those are the first things that come to mind. I build carriage doors for my garage and so far only some minor warping that was easy to fix.

Build the gate with an arch over the top with the name of the ranch inscribed.
