Matt Meiser

Y'all are giving me enough encouragement to dive right in. I'll pass on the loaner Steve...but thanks very much for the offer. As soon as the old house closes (Monday or Tuesday), I'm headed out to shop for a good welding set-up. I've heard from several sources that the gas wire-feed is the way to go.

Matt....Do you feel like your welcome thread is being hijacked?

Nope. Mig is definitely the way to go. I bought a Hobart Handler 180 at Tractor Supply which is great. The 140 is a little smaller, little less expensive, and runs on 110v. Don't get the gas at TSC--go to a welding supply shop. I paid much less for the gas there.

I still use my old lincoln stick buzz box I bought way back in 71 or so.
Wire feed welder is in the future if I ever get started on my to be resto'ed 78 stepside:D

No Matt,
This ain't the welding forum either.
You'll get it right.:thumb:
Welcome!!

 About time you showed up in here again Tyler.
I thought maybe all you've been doing is loading the 12 U-haul trucks I heard was parked in front of your pad.:thumb: :D
