This bowl is from some wood that the guy who mows our lawn dropped off recently. He seems to think its alder, but I'm not sure. It's quite a bit darker than the other alder I've turned lately. Whatever it is, it's pretty light and easy to turn, like the other alder I've played with. It's got a few worm holes and a knot, but other than that the figure is pretty standard. This one will be a gift to the guy who brought me the wood. This one is about 7 3/8" wide by 3 3/8" tall. Finished with Antique Oil and spray lacquer, buffed with tripoli and carnauba wax.

Hey Vaughn - you seem to have a knack for finding the wood with holes and other "character defects" ... or maybe it finds you :). Either way, it's lovely!!
