I had a great day today, Gari Biasillo came to visit the Dungeon.
Gari lives in Vancouver Canada.....eh....
Gari and family are on vacation, they were here in Japan visiting his wife' family, and Gari was nice enough to make the time to stop by and visit.
I gave him the nickel tour of the Dungeon, and then Gari pulled out a nice piece of what we think is Ebony Macassar, and proceeded to show me how to turn boxes
It was very interesting to say the least, learned a lot and now I'll have to make some new tool rests and tools to add this to my turning fun!
Hats off to Gari, he was working with an unfamiliar lathe, tools that that were not quite for the job on hand, and my lathe was rather too high up for him, but he made a nice little box, which he gave to me, and I gave to my lovely wife, and she likes it very much!
Gari, myself and the small box he turned.
So, if any of you are ever in Tokyo, drop on by and take the nickel tour of the Dungeon!
Cheers!
