Question About Lathe's

Thanks for all the replies and advice, Tod, to answer your question yes I am primarly thinking of furniture parts but I would like to do other things as well..the reason I'm thinking duplicator was to replicate fairly easily table legs and stands (I figured that the duplicator would get me close to the original with a little finnessing on my part quicker than matching an original free hand stopping and starting to check on diameters and such). But I dont want a lathe that can just perform one function, so the research continues. Stu, that is a nice little unit and I'm thinking of going to 2000.00 on price so I should be able to look at a few more units now, will have to see.

Thanks again to all,

Scott

scott, for turnings over 2" or so the aftermarket duplicators do allright at getting you close. it`s spindle work that they fail to do so well.....like chair rungs or stair spindles. for stuff under 2" you`ll need some sort of a traveling steady that`s only inches from the cutter to avhieve any degree of accuracy.
