Segmented turnings are always a big fun for me, this time I made a '' 300mm gesegmenteerde bord '', 12'' segmented platter, with using ''Grenenhout'' (yellow pine) again. This plate have a hight of 3'', and is finished with two layers of blanc transparent stain.

Hi,

It appears that you are getting hooked on segmented work. The one thing you might be aware of, is that the larger the solid bottom section is, the better chance of the entire thing coming apart at the base. The larger piece can move more and cause separation between it and the first "segmented" ring. Any thing over 3" for the bottom solid piece might be getting to big. Just my experience.

Thanks for your remarks Robert, but this wood is fully worked out after 30 years, and so completely dry, so I'm not afraid that something happen like moving or seperation of the larger piece. And yes, I'm hooked on segmented turnings, one of my favorites.

Steve, Robert, Bernie, Gord, thank you all very much for your kind words and your remarks
