Introduction and oops

Folks

So I just posted my intro over in Neanderhaven... cause that is where my attention wavered to. But now, whilst looking over the rest of the forum I see there is a formal Introduction section. Apologies to all and sundry, in particular the moderators for my transgression.

I'm new to this forum after lurking for a while. I spent my formative years in rec.ww, then the Oldtools list when we ditched the flame wars for decent talk on old tools. By day I'm a library type in an engineering research lab and the rest of the time, just me. A long time collector and user of hand tools as well as books and ephemera of the same. Admittedly at times I am more a collector than a user. But in defense of my problem, I do send boxloads out to auction every few years when I run out of room...hence returning stuff to circulation.

Looking forward to spending lots more time here

Gary

Aw man, we had a perfect record going of never having a post in the wrong forum. Here comes some new guy and blows that record out of the water. The forum will never be the same. Gee, thanks.

Seriously, no worries whatsoever, Gary. The Neander area can use all the posts it can get, and putting a note here will also help others (who might not check into Neanderland) meet you, too.

Glad to have you here (and nice looking website).

It must be my New York Socialist Family upbringing. Never follow the rules unless you make them yourself.

That's been the problem with letting people know what is coming up on the site and blog. Post in the handtools sections or in the general sections? I scratch my head a lot and take a wild pick. There's always classified sections, but this stuff is not for sale. Which brings me to point #2... what about announcements from the various woodworking clubs and antique tool associations? Ever think of allowing one section just for announcements by clubs and associations? Forums are, after all, benevolent dictatorships so you can pick and choose who you will allow and who doesn't fit the bill.

Happy Holidays

Whoa, another refugee from the .wreck! Home of the best .sig line I've ever seen: "If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape!" ;)

Seriously, folks, check out his site. We are in the presence of socialist tool royalty! ;)

Thank,

Bill

Oh no Bill... Socialist Tool Royalty? That's a mouthful of a backwards compliment if I ever heard one. My relatives would turn in their Union graves to hear that said of me. I'm at least 50% ILGWU from New York, then SEIU on my own for a while, now just a working librarian without a union.

I quit the rec when things got hot and bothersome, not to mention to pedantic. But that was way back before there really was an internet to speak of. And with that I date myself.

Best
