Spalted HF #11

This is another in my spalted birch series. Wanted to try something radically different (at least for me) as to form this time around… please let me know what you think of it.

Lots of curl, spalting, cracks and a few knots – all of which really bring this thing to life when you hold it. All cracks and voids were filled with coffee grounds and CA.

Spalted birch hollow form; 11 1/8” x 4 ¼”, a few light coats of gloss poly.

As always – comments and critiques are welcome and encouraged!

Thanks for looking!

Very nice, Steve. You're right about it being different, but it's still aesthetically pleasing (at least to me). And that batch of spalted birch you've been working through sure has some pretty stuff going on, too. Great job.

Different but I like it. Very nice work! I've experimented with these acute angle shoulders as well and can sure appreciate them.

Nice pic, BTW. I like the drop-shadow border.
