    Question Dog Hole Placement

First of all this is my first question for the group, so lets do this.... I just picked up a 54" x 64" Rock Maple top 2 1/2" thick and I am planning on making my first bench out of it. I know I want to go with round holes but don't know if there is a standard for the placement of the holes. Any help would be great.

    What Tod says.

Mine are 3 3/4 apart, end vice travels 8 inches.

The holes are 1 inch (center line) from the edge of the bench.

Sounds about right. My end vise travels about 12" and my holes are spaced 6 1/2". The center of my holes are 1 1/4" from the edge.
