Old 28" X 19ft lathe

I sure hope somebody grabs it before the guy sells it for scrap. I don't think I could shoehorn it into my shop.

We just sold one of these at work. They cleaned up our shop and got rid of a very similar engine lathe, a mechanical brake, a mechanical shear and even a drill press that took up half an acre of room.

I did not care much about the other tools, but I'll miss the lathe. It was "out" by a few thousandths, but if you put a few layers of tape on whatever part you were turning, and were careful to just catch the right jaw, you could get the lathe dialed right in. It just took a bit of work, but the company decided to have an auction company get rid of it.

Its no big deal, but I'll probably have the distinction of being the last person to ever use this lathe. I'm getting soft in my old age I guess, because I kind of like the old stuff.
