Chas, very nice turnings, especially the cherry and the yew.
I'm now busy with turning this time free hand a prunus (we call it ''steenkers'') lidded bowl, it's familar with cherry. Think I post this lidded bowl in a couple of days.

Normally all turnings are freehand based on visual perception of the piece of timber, even if form has to accommodate something like a marble cheese platter I tend to vary the wood form to suit the grain etc.

On the tooth pick holders I do have a sketch and set of dimension limits so that all internal components will have clearance without having to do too much adjustment.
